Hi, I’m Andrea Springer

Welcome to Extraordinarily Ordinary, I’m Andrea Springer.

In my years of working with individuals and organizations, I’ve come to realize that we often take for granted our ordinary human skills.  Think listening, humility, perseverance, trust.  We may have been taught or perhaps life experience has shown us that we either do or do not have these attributes.

I’ve learned that we do have these attributes and it takes awareness and practice to strengthen them in ourselves and we can help others do the same.

I believe deepening our understanding of our humanity makes us better humans and as better members, we contribute even more to the communities we’re a part of. That’s when we move from ordinary to extraordinary.

My mission is to work with you and your organization to develop these skills and attributes through presentations such as asking good questions and balance.

Together we can uncover the possibilities that come with being Extraordinarily Ordinary.

 Let’s get to work!

Finding the Extraordinary in the Ordinary

Dream it

Over the past years, I have been intrigued by both our innate human goodness and our constant striving to be unique. The thought of being ordinary has pushed us away from recognizing and celebrating our regular selves as we push toward greatness. To be fair, this has been with us humans for centuries. I began to ponder the extraordinary gift of being ordinary and reveling in regularity. And, again, to be fair, the dream really formed when I came across the poem Ordinary Morning by Joyce Grenfell. It resonated with my dream to journey with others, both individuals and groups, to realize and embrace that there is extraordinary in the ordinary.

Build it

This dream became Extraordinarily Ordinary!  My goal is to create opportunities to reflect, educate, renew, and celebrate the mundane.  That includes finding balance in struggle, building community, having a good laugh, and realizing that the unifying factor for all of us is our innate human goodness.  It’s ordinary and yet it can lead us to do extraordinary things. It’s not always easy and it requires hard work; I want to build on that with you.

I love the poem Ordinary Morning by Joyce Grenfell. She recorded it as a song in the 1950’s. Take a listen!
